Web site speed optimization is done by carefully analyzing the web site for coding mistakes and graphic files that are too large in size. We use high quality software to shrink the file sizes of the graphics to enhance load time. Smashing large graphics into small spaces is another common mistake among beginners that can slow a web site down. Whenever possible, make the graphic the correct size and dimensions for the web page it is going on. A frequent coding mistake we often find is how the site links to the graphics. The site links the graphics to the full URL causing the site to hit the DNS server every time for each graphic instead of linking directly to the graphics.

Use of WYSIWYG "What You See Is What You Get" web site editing software may also cause speed problems. Some web site editors leave a ton of extraneous code in your web site. Starting and stopping font tags after every sentence, overusing stylesheet tags and more. We have fixed web sites with over 1,000 lines of code per page and reduced them to 250 lines of code while improving the load time and the readability of the content for the search engines.
